Did you know?
On April 1, 1957, the BBC television program Panorama ran a famous hoax showing the Swiss harvesting spaghetti from trees. They claimed that the despised pest, the spaghetti weevil, had been eradicated. A large number of people contacted the BBC wanting to know how to cultivate their own spaghetti trees.
On April 1, 1965, the BBC claimed intent on conducting a trial of a new technology allowing the transmission of odor over the airwaves to all viewers. Many viewers reportedly contacted the BBC to report the trial's success.
Also, in the 1950s, Dutch television news reported that the Tower of Pisa had fallen over.
You gotta love Wikipedia (the source for these great April Fools pranks)! I pulled off a great April Fools prank a few years ago on my pastor here in Berlin. He is very careful (an understatment) about not coming across too-American to our international congregation. So, on April 1, 2007 (a Sunday), I prepared the prayer guide for our church to read "Please pray for our nation as many Americans will be traveling to the capital this weekend to see the cherry blossoms." Under the request I put a clipart of the capital building with the American flag waving in the foreground. Only he and his wife received the "fake" prayer guide. Everyone else got a real one. He was HORRIFIED. It was great!!
Have you ever pulled off a successful April Fools prank?

very interesting. I am planning a few pranks for supper tomorrow night. should be fun!
I played the one Peggy played on us in college with the water in school today. It was so successful that it ended with a boy CRYING and me having to call home to explain it to MOM! You bet I learned my lesson about trying to pull one on kids.
