I've heard quite a bit about "The Shack", but I don't usually get into bandwagon Christianiaty (ie: never saw "The Passion of the Christ", never made it through "Blue Like Jazz" or "Velvet Elvis" . . .) Last week though, a German friend described to me the difference "The Shack" had made in his thinking and it lit of spark of curiosity in me great enough that I borrowed the book and started reading it. I wasn't expecting it to be fiction for some reason. I mean, I knew it was a "story" about some guy going to a shack and meeting the trinity, but I felt for the first 70 or so pages like I was reading a mystery novel. I couldn't put it down! The unfortunate thing though, was that I read those first 70 pages before traveling back to my apartment on a bus, in the dark, alone. Not good. If you've ever read "The Shack" you know why I say not good. I was scared to death! So, disclaimer: read those first 70 pages selectively . . . maybe not right before bedtime.
I'm a little over halfway through the book right now and I've been mad, scared, excited, shocked and slightly offended, but overall I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely a page turner and thought provoker! I know there are probably people reading this that both loved and hated the book for various reasons, but I just felt like sharing my feelings so far. Any feedback? Have you read it? If so, what'd you think?
I wish I could go to Borders today with a friend and talk about it . . . I miss that, a lot.

I just finished it a week or two ago and I am still thinking about it. I loved it! I thought it was brilliant. I, like you, was mad, scared, and every other emotion under the sun when I was reading it. Two main things I learned from it--one, living in the present and two, just how intricate and amazing and multi-faceted our God is....as brilliant as the book is, it still pales in comparison to the real thing. Hope you get to finish it soon!
