Dry Spell

(I've hit a blogging dry spell. But I so want to give you something worth reading! I live in Europe and I can think of nothing! Unbelievable.)

Allow me to look backward and then forward for a minute. (The picture on the right is of me, the summer of '04, trying to figure out the bus schedule. Four years ago this week . . . September 1, 2004 . . . The Goods returned from their first furlough on this very day. I had lived in Berlin for almost 4 1/2 months. (I have now lived in Berlin for almost 4 1/2 years!) The Goods left on May 31st for the whole summer and Dan & Jean O'Deens, aka "Opa & Oma", moved into their apartment, right next door to me. This precious couple became my security blanket in a very insecure time in my life. I had no friendshere, no idea how to be a missionary, and the youth group, which was to be my main responsibility, consisted of approximately 6 teens, 2 of which were my teenaged teammates. (This picture is an example of one of our early youth events.) I felt overwhelmingly alone and afraid. I still feel this way, but much, much less THANK GOD! In five days, we're kicking off our fall youth program and anticipating 40-50 teens! :-)

Wow, Kristi, it is so good to look back and reflect and see what God has done in your ministry!

Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go;
Anywhere he leads me in this world below;
Anywhere without Him dearest joys would fade;
Anywhere with Jesus I am not afraid.
Anywhere with Jesus over land and sea,
Telling souls in darkness of salvation free;
Ready as he summons me to go or stay,
Anywhere with Jesus when he points the way.
Anywhere! Anywhere! Fear I cannot know; Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go.

I woke up one morning with this old song in my head. What a comfort it's been to me.
I love you, Mom

Praise the Lord Kristi for how He is using you there in Germany. I admire you for your service and dedication to the Lord. . . that you followed God all the way to your dream in Germany and that you let Him use you there to minister even in the midst of the unknowns.
