Thanksgiving, Christmas & a Birthday

If you've been following my home-ec escapades, you know that I am not a decorator or gardener . . . but I can bake. I made 9 pies this week: 3 Georgia Pecan, 1 peanut butter, 4 pumpkin and a lemon meringue. Tonight was our International Thanksgiving Dinner. 130 people showed up, hence all the pies.

Going backwards in time . . . yesterday was a good day. First, I arranged to take our teens & anybody from the church who'd like to go, to the Ronald McDonald House in Berlin for a holiday outreach. On December 8th, we'll be taking a Christmas party to very sick children and their family members - including Christmas cookies and lots of presents. We'll also be sharing the Christmas story with them and leading them in singing Christmas carols. (That should be interesting seeing as they probably don't sing the same carols that I'm used to. ???) I'm excited that it's working out. Bringing Christmas cheer and the love of Christ to 28 suffering families sounds like a great way to spend one of the Saturdays leading up to Christmas. I hope you're also thinking of ways to share the reason for the season.

Also, last night at ROCK (the pre-teen youth group that meets at my apartment) I shared that my spiritual birthday is coming up next week - actually on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22). I talked about how it's not so important that you know the date of your spiritual birthday, but that you have one! Long story short . . . a 10 year-old-girl named Megan responded and prayed to receive Christ as her Savior. It was a happy night. :-)
